Learning Commons 2025

The Learning Commons has numerous types of equipment available for use; some of which can be checked out and some of which must be used in the Learning Commons only.

Computers

The Learning Commons has both thin-client and regular desktop computers throughout both floors. These computers are linked to each student's account so any required software is automatically loaded.

Printers

There are printers available on the 1st floor and in the Tutoring Center. Students can retrieve any print job from any computer at any printer. Students are allotted 300 pages per month. Additional prints can be purchased here but must use a campus computer to do so. Printers can also be used to make copies and scans. There is no color printing available however.

Scanners

The Learning Commons has a book scanner on the 1st floor and another in the Tutoring Center. These can be used to make electronic copies (PDF) of books and documents that must remain in the Learning Commons. There is no limit to scanning.

Laptops

Laptops and Chromebooks are available for students to check out. The loan duration is for the semester and must be returned at the end of each period. Students must be currently enrolled in classes and have their I.D. for checkout.

Virtual Reality (VR)

The Learning Commons has two Oculus Quest 2 Virtual Reality headsets available for students to use. The VR equipment is located in the Tutoring Center and must remain there - they cannot be checked out and taken home.

Faculty & Staff:

Laptops for faculty & staff are available for check out. There are no special requirements for on-campus use but off-campus use requires special permissions. For off-campus checkouts, click here to submit a request form or contact Roxie Johnson at ext. 6171 or rjohnson@bpcc.edu.
