Citing sources that you have used in your research is EXTREMELY important. Each subject and teacher will have a specific way that they ask you to cite your resources (usually MLA or APA). Citing correctly is the only way to avoid plagiarism. Merrian-Webster Dictionary defines plagiarism as:

• stealing or passing off the ideas or words of another as your own.
• using another's work without crediting the source.
• committing literary theft.
• presenting as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.
